Pixie Lott

Taking to the stage after a line-up including Cheryl Cole, Alicia Keys and Florence & the Machine would be quite a daunting prospect, but Pixie Lott took it all in her stride yesterday as she wowed the crowd on day two of Radio 1's Big Weekend.

The blonde songstress stole the show as she belted out hit songs including Mama Do and Boys and Girls on the main stage at the festival in Bangor, north Wales.

The 19-year-old was decked out in all black, managing to combine a mix of fashion trends with lace shorts, a studded leather jacket, a corset and thigh-high boots.

Her trademark platinum blonde hair was worn loose, adorned with cream flowers.

She was followed by Bajan superstar Rihanna, who must have been sweltering as she writhed around on stage in a leather playsuit.

Marina & the Diamonds and folk singer Paolo Nutini also performed yesterday, and were due to be followed by big-name acts including Rihanna, JLS and American newcomer Ke$ha.

While there was no shortage of entertainment on stage for the 20,000-strong crowd, there were almost as many celebrities off the stage.

Other celebrity guests at the festival included Kelly Rowland, Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman, Ellie Goulding, who also performed, and recently reunited couple Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays and McFly's Dougie Poynter.

X Factor finalist Diana Vickers was also spotted backstage, her slim frame swamped by loose fitting drawstring shorts and a blue and white striped top.

Popular performances yesterday included Cheryl Cole's 25-minute set, in which she performed hits such as Fight For This Love and Parachutes.

Before singing 3 Words, Cole - who duets with close friend and Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am on the track - told her fans: 'Everybody that's in love in here today I want you to turn to your partner and sing this one.'

Cole wasn't the only act to cause a stir at the annual event.

Alicia Keys donned an unusual plunging harem-style outfit for her set on stage, during which she performed some of her most famous including Empire State of Mind.

  1. Black Eyed Peas are one of those groups that get really popular, but only for a short time and then they die down for awhile, but then come back with a hit single or something. Just because a group has 1 or 2 good songs on an album doesn’t make them a good group. I always watch live Black Eyed Peas Concert.
