There are many reasons why a discoloration of hair may occur. Some are closely connected to life style and environmental factors.
1. Genetic factors: Genetic inheritance decides whether hair turns grey at a young or not so young age. Look at your parents and grandparents. You usually take after one of them!
2. Stress: Research has shown that people who have a lot of responsibilities and hectic lives lose the youthful color of their hair earlier than their peers who live a quiet and satisfying kind of life.
3. Food: Lack of vitamins also contributes to this undesirable modification of hair; if you want to delay the process, just change your diet and eat foods that are rich in vitamins (especially B)
4. Sleep: Lack of sleep and a disorganized life is one of the most widespread causes of getting grey hairs. Try getting enough sleep at night and you will delay the process!
5. Emotional shock may bring about an increased number of grey hairs, together with a lot of other changes in the organism.
6. Environment: Pollution and sunbathing for a long time are two other causes of this catastrophe. Sun has a degenerative effect upon hair, irrespective of age.
7. Metabolism: Migraines, depressions and hormonal dysfunction are also known to add new grey hairs.
8. Hair dyes are said to have, in time, a degenerative effect upon hair. Beware, ladies!
However bad it might seem, having a couple of or more grey hairs next to the temples is not really disastrous and we all know how to cover the flaw. There are so many types of hair colorants nowadays that men are also using them to regain their self-esteem when the first sign of ‘discolored’ hair shows. However, doctors’ advice is for us to choose hair dyes that are less damaging to hair and skin.
