Oprah WinfreyAfter a 25 year run, Oprah Winfrey is saying goodbye as she announces that her show is going off the air in 2011.

The Emotional Announcement

Winfrey took a nostalgic look back at her 25 years, talking about how she was nervous when the Oprah Winfrey Show first aired in 1986. She also shared that she never imagined her show would be the catalyst for her now multi-billion dollar media enterprise. Though the daytime talk show queen is leaving the show that transformed her into the media powerhouse she is today, Oprah isn't going off the airwaves completely.

A New Venture

Talks have been reportedly in the works for a new type of Oprah show. This time, it's a joint venture between the Discovery Channel and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Talks have reportedly been in the works for quite some time, which lead to the delay of the project for a number of years. The Discovery Channel has many outlets including Discovery Science and Discovery Health. The channel is pulling the plug on its health channel and putting the Oprah Winfrey Network in its place.

Final Season

It is rumored that Oprah's favorite doctor, Dr. Mehmet Oz, will be getting his own show in the CBS timeslot filled by the Oprah Winfrey Show, for two and a half decades. For her final year, Oprah promises that she is going to "knock your socks off" and so far she has delivered.
