123Amitabh Bachchan who plays a media baron with uncompromising journalistic ethics in this Friday’s release Rann said he was hoping not to be bashed by mediapersons after the film’s premiere earlier this week.

The movie is an exposé of the workings of the fourth estate and shows both the good and bad side of media - how news is sometimes created and sensationalized for the sake of TRPs.

“I just hope you don't beat me up after watching the movie. As far as my role is concerned I think I have done justice with it in the film,” Bachchan told reporters at the film's red carpet premiere in Mumbai on Thursday.

Even director Ram Gopal Varma seemed eager to clarify that ‘Rann’ is not about media bashing.

“The film is not about media bashing, it just shows the rise of media and how business and politics affect its transparency. The potential is scary and that is what the film explores. I love the film and I hope the audience loves it too,” the maverick director said.

Ritesh Deshmukh, who plays the role of a conscientious journalist in the film, said a lot of hard work was put in by everyone associated with the film.

“'Rann' is a battle between ethics and TRP's in the world of media. It's a different film but we have all worked very hard which you will see when you watch the film,” he said.

The premiere was attended by a host of film personalities including Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Gul Panag.
