Lily Cole

The look of sheer relief was clear to see yesterday as Lily Cole celebrated finishing her exams.

Dresses casually in a flattering blue dress and long cardigan, the 22-year-old couldn't stop grinning as she enjoyed drinks after finishing her end of year exams at Cambridge University.

She is unlikely to have to worry, having gained a first in the examinations last year, but Lily still looked thrilled that the gruelling exam period was over.

But while most of her classmates have four months of freedom to look forward to before returning to university in September, the same cannot be said for Lily.

As an in-demand catwalk and editorial model, Lily travels around the world for photoshoots and runway shows.

In addition, Lily is hoping to further her acting career, following her on-screen success starring alongside Johnny Depp, Heath Ledger and Jude Law in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasssus.

She also starred in 2007 movie St. Trinian's and was recently cast in Marilyn Manson's upcoming fantasy horror film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll, in which she stars as the author's legendary heroine Alice.

She previously said: 'I’d like to act and not really model so much.

'I wouldn’t want to treat acting as a convenient thing to do now and again.

'I’ve been doing modelling for years and I feel like I’ve taken out of it what I need to and I’m ready for new things.’

Lily won a place a Cambridge University three years ago to study social and political sciences, but took two years off to concentrate on her modelling career.

She then switched to a three-year history of art degree.

Despite her success at the world-famous university, Lily admitted she struggled when she first began studying at Cambridge.

Speaking earlier this year, she said: 'It was hard to settle in. I was a bit shell-shocked, but I think everyone finds that.

'This year is much nicer, and the courses are a lot harder.'
