Beyonce Knowles

Dressing like Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard appears to be the latest fashion trend for celebrities these days.

And Beyonce has proved to be no exception as she donned a checkered shirt and tiny denim hotpants for her new video.

The singer released a teaser trailer for the video for her album track Why Don't You Love Me yesterday which showed her enviable figure in the skimpy shorts and shirt tied sexily around her waist.

Starring as 'B.B Homemaker', Beyonce, who also wore a red bandana round her head, gets oiled up as she plays mechanic.

She lifts the roof of her 1960s car to a plume of smoke, grabs a spanner and a manual as she attempts to repair her broken vehicle.

Beyonce, who gave the Daisy Duke look and even sexier twist by wearing stockings and red high heeled shoes, is also seen changing a wheel before tottering into a house.

The scene then cuts to her walking through a living room holding a sign across her body that reads, 'Why Don't You Love Me?'

The song, which was written by Beyonce and her sister Solange, is a bonus track on the re-release of her 2008 album 'I Am… Sasha Fierce'.

Although it wasn't released as a single, it got to number one on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart more than a year after the album's original release.

It was also her her thirteenth number-one hit on that chart.

But it was her outfit that drew the most attention, as she followed in the footsteps of LeAnn Rimes, Cameron Diaz and Jessica Simpson in adopting this latest fashion craze.

Of course, Jessica, 29, was the first to start the trend when she starred as Daisy Duke in a film remake of the popular 1980s TV series in 2005.

But the denim hot pants weren't then confined to the back of her wardrobe and she has since worn them on several occasions since.

More recently, singer LeAnn Rimes, 27, was spotted having lunch with her actor boyfriend Eddie Cibrian in Los Angeles sporting denim hotpants and a red checkered shirt.

And then actress Cameron Diaz, 37, joined in the Dukes of Hazzard fun as she sported a similar outfit on the set of her new film Bad Teacher.

But the fashion for short denim cut offs - or Daisy Dukes as they have now been nicknamed, has become very popular recently.

And Beyonce didn't keep hers confined to a video shoot either as she was spotted wearing hers at the Coachella festival in Los Angeles recently.

They have also been seen on other celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Peaches Geldof, Daisy Lowe and Jennifer Aniston.
