Acne treatment-Mitigating acne-acne medication-acne

Tips on Mitigating acne

In girls it occurs a bit earlier than boys. Generally, in girls it occurs before they are fifteen and in boys after fifteen. It develops gradually and goes away on its own gradually.

Though more than 90 per cent of teenagers face the problem of acme but in most of the cases it doesn’t last more then two-three years and is not severe. About 15 per cent of youngsters face its severe form and have lots of reddish spots.

Acne is limited to various parts of face but in some cases it spreads up to shoulders, chest and back also. To prevent acne it must be borne in mind that any tinkering with acne will make it last a little more. If one wants to use any over the counter medicine it should be oil free, else it may lead to skin-related problems.

As it is a natural phenomenon it cannot be prevented but proper care of the skin and some precautions can help to reduce it. Precautions can help to make them subside. Acne prevention include regular meals, no processed food, no oily and heavy snacks and not much sugar and meat.

Tips on Irony of acne

The irony is that as you grow up and become conscious of your looks and appearance acme develops. In girls it develops in early teens while in boys it develops in later teen years.

Almost every one faces it. Woman who had not faced it in her teen years is likely to face it in late twenties. It is a natural part of growing up and is caused by hormones. Acne prevention is not possible though proper care and some precautions can reduce its intensity.

How can one prevent something that is quite natural? Here are some tips that can help one face the problem of acme which is mainly cosmetic and psychological, barring some cases of severe incidence which may require help from a physician.

• It is not a disease and is not incorrigible either but in most of the cases it doesn’t require any treatment.

http://local.yodle.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/acne.jpg

• It develops slowly, stays for some time- some months or years- and goes away.

• It is not caused by lifestyle but gets aggravated by some chemicals used in cosmetics.

• Washing your face twice or thrice a day and drinking lots of water makes acne spots vanish faster. http://z.about.com/d/dermatology/1/5/l/6/Comed_microcomedone.jpg

Some dietary precautions can help. Do not eat fast food and heavy oily things and avoid too much sugar. To prevent acne concentrate on thins which are rich in vitamin A and vitamin E. It is observed that those who develop severe acme have lower vitamin A compared to those who don’t. Likewise those who have lower vitamin E in their body girls are likely to have more acne.

Acne treatment-Get Rid of Facial Acne-Skin care

Whether acne is a reoccurring problem or just surfaces as the occasional pimple, knowing the proper way to get rid of acne should be the first tool in everyone's beauty box.

  1. Start or continue a basic routine of cleansing and moisturizing your skin. Know what your skin type is and use the appropriate cleanser. Wash and moisturize first thing in the morning and before bedtime. Rub the cleanser in gently, not pulling or scrubbing, which will only damage the skin further.

  2. Treat blemishes by dabbing a small amount of over-the-counter acne fighting medication onto the pimple, starting with the mildest strength of medicine. Avoid picking, popping or pressing on any blemish. This can cause scarring and spread the bacteria, creating more acne.

  3. Fight or prevent allover acne problems with a medicated face wash made especially for oily completions. After cleansing, apply a thin layer of salicylic acid over the entire face using upward sweeping motions.

  4. Choose makeup, moisturizers and sun protection that are oil free and labeled non-comedogenic, which will not clog skin pores. Most mineral makeup is a good choice.

  5. Avoid touching your face with your hands because this brings more oil, dirt and bacteria to the face. Avoid resting your chin in your hands or fingering a current blemish. If possible, pin hair back from the face to keep the hair's natural oils away from the face.

Tips to Treat Pimples properly-acne treatments-skin care

Many people suffer from this condition only during the teenage years, pimples can occur throughout adulthood, depending on your hormonal activity, heredity and hygiene. Some people have more severe cases of pimples than others and might need to see a dermatologist for drastic improvements.
Tip#1
Resist the urge to attack when these plugged sebaceous glands pop up. In other words, don't pop your pimples, this can cause infections and even scarring.

Tip#2
Keep in mind that a combination of hormonal activity, a buildup of bacteria and the shedding of dead skin cells causes pimples. Do what you can to prevent a breakout by establishing a skin-care routine appropriate for your skin type.

Tip#3
Have patience. It could take up to one month for a blemish to disappear completely. The less you poke at it, the better.
Tip#4
Buy an antibacterial, oil-free concealer that can blend the redness of the pimple into your own skin color. Green shades tend to offset redness the best. (This might not be an option for those who don't wear makeup.)
Tip#5
Try a facial mud mask. This may shrink a pimple.
Tip#6
Realize that despite the happy teens in the commercials, "zit zapping" solutions, medications you apply directly to pimples, don't do much more than dry out the top layer of skin covering the pimples. These medications don't provide a long-term cure.
Tip#7
If you are going to break the rules by "extracting the blemish," aesthetician-speak for popping your pimple, wash your hands, then lightly squeeze the top of the pimple with a tissue or cotton swab. Clean the area thoroughly when you're done. If nothing happens, leave the pimple alone until it's ready to pop.
Tip#8
Apply a benzol peroxide acne medication to the pimple and avoid applying medication to the surrounding area.

Top tips and Methods to Remove Whiteheads?Acne treatment-White heads

Like blackheads, white heads too are formed in the skin where skin cells clog and close a hair follicle. It's small and appears on the outer layer of the skin like a raised white bump. In medical terms it is known as a closed comedone.

Though they don't look as ugly as blackheads but if they set in the skin deep, they can create problem to you. All such things as black heads and white heads spoil the texture of your skin by showing it non smooth and lustrous. You need to look after the skin to prevent it from getting whiteheads and if you already have them then you need to workout to remove them. They usually appear on the sides of the nose, cheekbones and where the skin is fine.

How to remove whiteheads: first thing you should do to your skin is drinking lots of water, which removes the toxins from the skin and keeps whiteheads at bay.

  • Wash off your face with mild cleansers and use mild scrubbers on your skin at least thrice a week. If you apply scrubbers on the skin after taking mild steam in the skin, they go off sooner as it softens the skin and opens up the pores. But always apply skin toner after cleaning the skin to close the pores. You can even rub an ice cube on the skin wrapped in a cotton cloth to block the pored after steaming.
  • Use creams and gels, which contain alpha Hydroxyl fruit acids. They help in unclogging the pores to remove the whiteheads.
  • Never squeeze or forcibly remove the whiteheads otherwise you will get a scar or skin infection. Take professional help if the problem cannot be tackled by you.
  • Apply homemade scrubbers made by fruit peels. Dry orange peels in the sun and make a powder of them by grinding them. Add rosewater and milk cream to this powder and apply on the skin. Wash it off while rubbing it in the wrong direction when it's half dried. It will make the skin clear, smooth and will remove the whiteheads.
  • Rubbing lemon peel on the skin helps in reducing whiteheads.
  • Use medicated soaps and cleansers on the skin and apply oil free moisturizers.
  • Drink fresh fruit juices and drink a glass of warm water with some lemon juice into it first thing in the morning. It helps in detoxifying the skin.
  • Soak almonds in the water overnight, in the morning grind them and make a paste. Add honey to it and massage it on the face for few minutes. Leave it on the skin for 5-10 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. It cleans away the white heads to some extent.

Try all such methods to keep away the white heads from the skin still if the problem persist then seek medical or professional help of a dermatologist.

Blackheads-How to Get Rid of a Blackhead #2

A balanced diet and healthy lifestyle help prevent the formation of blackheads. A blackhead is best left alone to go away on its own. However, you may feel the need to get rid of a blackhead if you are going on a date or attending an important event. Read on to learn how to get rid of a blackhead.

Step1
Use a mild exfoliating scrub and warm water to wash your face and help expose the blackhead. Pat your face dry with a soft clean towel.
Step2
Soak the blackhead for at least 10 minutes using a washcloth and the warmest water you can stand. This softens the blackhead. Pat the area dry again with a soft clean towel.

Step3
Press down on the area around the blackhead, using two fingertips. Apply gentle, even pressure from underneath the blackhead to push it out.
Step4
Try this procedure only once or twice. If it doesn't work, take a break. Forcing it could make the blackhead worse or cause scarring.
Step5
Repeat this procedure after several days, if necessary. In the meantime, continue to soak your blackhead with a warm washcloth while bathing to keep it soft.

Black heads-How to get rid of blackheads #1-Safe ways

If you are looking for some safe, effective ways to get rid of blackheads and keep them from coming back, just follow these simple tips. And avoid trying to squeeze blackheads out with your fingers. You'll just make things worse.

using facial steamer

Cleanse the skin regularly and thoroughly using a facial steamer and boiling water containing one or all of the following healing herbs: comfrey, peppermint, yarrow, thyme. This will help in reducing blackheads.

Use a Peel-Off Mask

I think one of the safest way to get rid of blackheads is to use a peel-off mask. Any peel-off mask should do the job, but there are some that are specifically designed to lift blackheads and I suppose it is possible those work better, but honestly I doubt it makes that much difference. The .99c mask from CVS should do the trick.

Before applying the mask, you want to open your pores. So either steam for awhile (a pot of hot water and a towel over your head will do the trick) or if that is too much work, simply soak a face cloth as hot as you can stand it and place this over your face. Leave it on until it cools and then do it one more time.

Now you are ready to apply the mask. Simply follow the instructions and leave the mask on for as long as required. Most of them usually are for 30 minutes or so.

Peel! You'll notice all the blackheads that come off with it! Eww! But still, your skin looks a lot better right?

Now the final crucial step to help prevent an immediate reoccurence. Be sure to close your pores. Cool water compresses applied to your face will do the trick.

iore Strips

You can use Biore or any other manufacturer's facial strips to quickly get rid of blackheads. Ponds makes strips as well.

Just make sure that after you use the strips that you close your pores by holding some cool compresses to your face.

Some users report that the strips tend to leave your pores open and make things worse, but if you use compresses after using the strips, that should not be a problem.

Use a Blackhead Removal Tool

If you go and have a professional facial, this is what the aesthecian will use to get rid of blackheads. You can do this at home yourself, but I recommend it as a last resort. Try a mask first and then use the blackhead tool to get rid of the stubborn blackheads that remain behind.

You want to carefully wash your face beforehand and I recommend steaming your pores open. When you use the blackhead tool, it should gently squeeze it out. So don't start digging into your face with the tool. That's even worse than using your fingers to squeeze.

If the blackhead doesn't want to come up, leave it for a couple of days, try some Biore strips and then try the tool again. If your skin is getting all red, you are doing it too hard!

Get a Professional Facial

If you have the cash, do yourself a favor and get a professional facial done. You will not regret it and all those nasty blackheads will be gone. Your skin will start to look a lot better in a day or two as well.

Before scheduling a facial, be sure to ask if they do "extractions". If they don't, find someone who does. You can do a facial without extractions at home yourself. I think they are a waste of money to have done professionally. I want all the crud pulled out. So extractions are the way to go.

Blackhead Treatment-benzoyl peroxide-blackheads-pimples-acne treatment

Treatment of blackheads takes time. Most treatments take several weeks to months before a noticeable change is seen.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide has an antibacterial effect and may also decrease the chemical reaction that changes the lining of the hair follicle. This may help reduce the plugging that causes comedones. Benzoyl peroxide may be used for a mild case of comedones or to help prevent formation of others.

Tretinoin (Retin-A)

Tretinoin (Retin-A, Avita, Renova) is the mainstay of treatment for whiteheads and blackheads. Tretinoin is a derivative of vitamin A and works by increasing cell turnover and reducing the "stickiness" of the sloughed cells. It helps expel the plugged material returning the pore to normal. Tretinoin can be irritating, so specific instructions on how to use it can be found here.

Antibiotics

Prescription topical antibiotics or oral antibiotics might be used if some of the blackheads and whiteheads are infected, but antibiotics do not help with comedones that are not infected.

Isotretinoin (Accutane)

Isotretinoin (Accutane) is used for severe cystic acne and has many side effects. It is very effective for comedones when used properly, but is not usually prescribed for mild acne of either type.

Extraction

Extraction may be used by a health care provider on open comedones. This process is performed using a device called a comedone extractor. This is a small, metal, circular instrument that is centered on the comedone and pushes down the surrounding skin, causing the plug to extrude.

No Need to Suffer

Whiteheads and blackheads are types of acne that affect many people. There are good treatment options available, so there is no need to suffer with this condition in silence. A primary care provider can initiate treatment for acne and follow mild to moderate cases. Severe cases or those resistant to treatment should be seen by a dermatologist.

Acne-how to get rid of acne scars-acne treatment

Acne scars can greatly alter anyone's appearance. While acne scars are more common on those who picked at their acne, they can occur on anyone who has ever had acne. The severity of the scars will largely depend on the acne that preceded them. Though they can occur on any part of the body, acne scars are most common on the face, back, shoulders, neck and chest. Thankfully, there are various treatment methods you can employ to help fade acne scars, thus significantly improving their appearance.

Step1
Wear sunscreen daily to protect scarred skin from further damage. Any degree of sun exposure will damage your skin, even if you can't visibly see the damage. In order to expedite the healing process, you must keep skin protected from the sun's damaging rays.
Step2
Apply a fading or bleaching cream to your acne scares.Generally, acne scars are darker in color than your natural skin tone. With regular use, a bleaching or fading cream will lighten the scars, helping them to blend in with surrounding skin.
Step3
Use a scar treatment ointment on your acne scars. These ointments contain natural ingredients such as onion extract which have been shown to improve the appearance of scars. You must apply the ointment three times daily for at least two months in order to see results. Most scar treatment ointments work on both flat and raised acne scars.

Step4
Try lotions, serums and creams that contain hydroxy acids. These acids, found naturally in milk and sugar cane, aid in collagen production. They also help to remove old, damaged skin cells from the surface of your skin, helping your skin to look younger and more radiant.
Step5
Have a chemical peel performed on your acne scars. You can choose the strength of the chemicals used, ranging from light to heavy. The chemicals applied will react with the top layers of your skin, essentially burning and removing them. The skin below will be less damaged, and the acne scars lighter as a result. Most people require a series of peels, applied a few months apart, in order to see results.
Step6
Talk to your dermatologist about laser treatment for your acne scars. Lasers have been shown to be very effective at lightening acne scars. The laser will both target pigment in the acne scars and treat your skin in general. The pigment in the acne scars will be broken up and absorbed by the body's immune system, and your skin's top layers will be burned away, to reveal younger-looking skin below. Be aware that laser treatments are usually somewhat painful and expensive.

Do not sleep without washing your face. And do not use strong body soap for your face or acne because it will irritate your skin and then you cannot stop of scratching it until it will get worst.
Step2
If washing your face and applying some mild acne treatment won't help then call your doctor right away so that you can get an immediate treatment before it will spread all over your face.
Step3

An Oatmeal Mask for Clear Skin
You can use the oatmeal mask as either a spot treatment or use it on your entire face. The oatmeal should make your skin feel nice and soft and it also has a calming effect on your skin.

Take a 1/2 cup of oatmeal, mix it in a blender until it is the consistency of powder. Then add just enough water to make a paste.

Apply the oatmeal mask to your pimples or to your whole face. Once the oatmeal dries and gets crumbly, it's time to wash it off.

Toothpaste as a Pimple Remover
I actually find this a pretty effective home remedy for regular pimples. A little bit of regular toothpaste (not gel!) dabbed on a pimple before bed should dry it up significantly. Just wash it off in the morning. For some people though, you may find that the toothpaste irritates your skin more than it helps. It just depends. But it may be worth trying at least once to see if it will work for you. Just remember to use regular toothpaste and not a gel.

There are some acne home remedies that have turned out to be successful for some acne sufferers. They may work for some people's skin, but they won't work for everyone. If they do work, it usually isn't an overnight miracle. So you'll need a little patience -- give them a week or two before giving up.

Ance Treatment:: How to treat Acne at Home

Here are a few tips that will help you know how to treat acne at home.

1. If you have red angry looking acne, don't touch it. If you squeeze now, all you'll do is force the contents deeper into the skin that will make matters worst. And all you'll end up with is redder, angrier acne than you had before. Don't do it.

2. If you have a yellow custard top? Go for it. These beauties CAN be squeezed but there's an art to it. Here's how. Wash your hands thoroughly to avoid trouble and infection. Put a tissue over your finger. Why? Because you want the contents of the spot on the tissue, not splattered all over the mirror. Using the side of your thumb and the end of your finger, very gently start to squeeze. Don't whatever you do, use your nails as this will damage your skin. Stop when you're applying a lot of pressure and nothing is happening and you see clear fluid, rather than yellow grotty stuff and the spot begins to bleed. When you've finished dab it with antiseptic. Once the custard bit is out, the spot will heal more quickly than an unsqueezed yellow top would, providing that you now leave it well alone. Now wash your hands again.

3. Whiteheads and blackheads. If acne is left untreated they may cause this problem. Here the rule is if they're black, squeeze but if they're small, white raised lumps leave them alone. All that stuff about clean hands, tissues and stopping if nothing is happening or you see blood, apply here too.

Tips for acne treatment

1. DON'T TRY TO WASH IT AWAY
Acne isn't caused by dirt. In fact people with oily skin have cleaner skin than average because they wash it more often. But it's a fact that washing too much can make acne worse because it makes the skin dry and sore. So, wash no more than twice a day, using mild soap and water. If you have patches of dry skin, don't worry about putting moisturizer on. It won't make your acne worse. If you're still concerned, use an oil free moisturizer.

2. DON'T NUKE 'EM
There are lots of over the counter creams, gels, lotions and potions. Most contain a powerful bleaching agent called benzoyl peroxide. You'll find the strength written on the label. You might be tempted to go straight for the highest sort, working on the 'let's nuke 'em principle. The likely result is that you'll irritate your skin like mad. It may also go all dry and scaly on you. But if you still are willing to bleach then use the mild one.

3. MAKE A DATE - THE TWO MONTH RULE
If you have been using over the counter remedies for two months and there is no real improvement in your spots, this is the moment to go and make an appointment with your doc.

4. YOUR DOCTOR - THE TWO MONTH RULE
The thing you are most likely to be given by the doctor is a prescription for antibiotics. These will either be topical (which means something you put on your skin) or tablets you have to take every day. Whatever treatment your doctor or pharmacist recommends, follow the instructions carefully and keep using for at least two months. There should be a noticeable improvement by this time. If not, go back to discuss other possible treatments Antibiotics are perfectly safe to take. You should take them for at least two months and then go back to your doc. If they seem to be working, he will probably tell you to keep taking them and give you some more. If they aren't doing their stuff, don't despair - he has loads of other spot busters in his black bag.

5. YOU ARE NOT AN ALIEN - BUT JUST BE PATIENT
Hundreds of thousands of teenagers seek help for acne. You are not alone. You are not an alien. And if people really care about you, they don't even notice your acne, however bad you think they are. But you will need to be patient. Most treatments take time to work. At least two months. And some treatments, like antibiotics will work well but may have to be taken for months, or even years.

6. THE MONTHLY CURSE... OR EXAMS
Acne does tend to get worse just before a period. It's because there is a surge in hormone levels at this time. But boys don't get away lightly either. Being hot and sweaty (particularly after sports like football) makes acne worse. And for everyone, stress - particularly at exam times - is a cue for a mega breakout. This is normal - and of course, even more reason for feeling stressed. Go chill. They'll get better - promise.

7. WATCH WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR SKIN AND HAIR
Some beauty products are big no-nos. These include pomades and defrizzing agents for hair that tend to cause an outcrop of blackheads along the hairline and some of the heavier cosmetics. And be wary of suntan oils. Not all will make you break out, but some may. Try a friend's first before you buy. By the way, the sun might dry up acne and a tan might hide them, but your skin is still vulnerable in the sun and needs protection.

8. CARRY ON KISSING
You can't catch acne during kissing - go for it!

9. CARRY ON EATING CHOCOLATE
It's a myth that eating chocolate and fried foods causes acne. However, eating a good diet improves your general well-being and this is reflected in your skin.

Ance Treatment::Causes of acne

Acne is a common skin problem that is suffered by most of the teenagers aged between 12-17 years. However, even adults between 20-40 years of age also tend to suffer from this skin problem. Statistics record that about 80% of the teenagers and about 5% of adults are affected by acne. This skin problem occurs more commonly in women than in men. When such a problem strikes, women become more concerned about their skin. The reason behind why the skin gives in to such a problematic condition is the same for all age groups.
.

The exact cause of acne in unknown.

Following are some of the factors that have been labeled as the causes of acne and pimples:

  • Heredity: With the exception of very severe acne, most people do not have the problem exactly as their parents did. Almost everyone has some acne at some point in their life.
Acne sebaceous gland follicles

  • Food: Parents often tell teens to avoid pizza, chocolate, greasy and fried foods, and junk food. While these foods may not be good for overall health, they don't cause acne or make it worse. Although some recent studies have implicated milk and dairy products in aggravating acne, these findings are far from established.

  • Dirt: As mentioned above, "blackheads" are oxidized oil, not dirt. Sweat does not cause acne, therefore, it is not necessary to shower instantly after exercise for fear that sweat will clog pores. On the other hand, excessive washing can dry and irritate the skin.

  • Stress: Some people get so upset by their pimples that they pick at them and make them last longer. Stress, however, does not play much of a direct role in causing acne.

  • Hormones: Some women break out cyclically, but most women (and men) don't. Some oral contraceptive pills may help relieve acne, but unless a woman has abnormal menstrual periods and excessive hair growth, it's unlikely that hormones play much of a role in causing acne. Pregnancy has a variable effect on acne; some women report that they clear up completely, and others get worse, while many others see no overall change.

  • Cosmetics: Most cosmetic and skin-care products are not pore-clogging ("comedogenic"). Of the many available brands, those which are listed as "water-based" or "oil-free" are generally a better choice.

In occasional patients, the following may be contributing factors:

  • Pressure: In some patients, pressure from helmets, chinstraps, collars, suspenders, and the like can aggravate acne.

  • Drugs: Some medications may cause or worsen acne, such as those containing iodides, bromides, or oral or injected steroids (either the medically prescribed prednisone or the steroids that bodybuilders or athletes take). Other drugs that can cause or aggravate acne are anticonvulsant medications and lithium, which is used to treat bipolar disorder. Most cases of acne, however, are not drug-related.

acne treatment:Cover-up acne and scars in 3 steps

When you have a break-out or scars left behind do to one, it will take a little extra attention to that area to effectively cover it up.

Step1........................
Use a firm brush to apply concealer and foundation to a pimple or scar. You will want to use a concealer or foundation slightly darker then your skin tone on the top of the pimple or scar. Then you will want to use a concealer and foundation which is slightly lighter then your skin tone on the bottom of the pimple or scar.
Shine tends to be accentuated on a raised surface, using this trick helps to camouflage the area. http://www.vitaminscost.com/img/acne_scar_treatment.jpg
Step2........................
Use a small amount of concealer to fill each pit, (which is a scar left behind from a pimple) Since pits tend to go in,they need to be filled in to help even out your skin. Fill in with a dense concealer or foundation the same color as your skin tone.

Step3........................
Lastly dust your entire face with a translucent powder. Then apply the rest of your make-up, like your eyeshadow, lipstick, etc. Just never apply to much! Doing so may make you look older and your skin worse.

If the whole of your facial skin is oily, then a cleanser with benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid in it will be appropriate for your skin.

Do not scrub your face as the infected cells may swell around the area and may lead to break outs.

Toners may cause your skin to become really dry and should be avoided unless your skin is way too oily.

- For emergencies like an interview or a wedding, quick relief can be obtained by getting a cortisone injection from your physician. It will mellow down the pimple very fast.

- In case you can not get to your dermatologist or if you are too scared of injections, you can use a pinch of cortisone cream, Preparation H, or Vasocon-A eye drops to get some quick relief. All these are available at any drug stores.
