But enjoying a spot of retail therapy in Cannes today, it looked like the Desperate Housewives actress had squeezed into a dress so small, it looked like it was even too tight for her.

The 5 ft 2 actress showed off her slender physique in a grey wool-blend bandage dress and a $795 pair of blue suede Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo heels.

Longoria was doing a spot of shopping on Thursday afternoon before she attended the tonight's premiere of French comedy Tournee.

Although attending without her husband Tony Parker, Longoria's close friend Kate Beckinsale is also at Cannes this year in her role as juror.

Both Beckinsale and Longoria opted for long sweeping ballgowns as they attended the gala opening of the festival last night at the premiere of Robin Hood.

After the screening, they both changed into mini-dresses for the after-party at the Hotel Majestic on the Croisette.

Longoria complemented her olive skin tone with a gold asymmetrical Elie Saab mini and matching high heeled sandals.

Posting a picture of her with Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal on her Twitter page, Longoria enthused: 'Me and Gael Garcia Bernal last night at Robin Hood party. Great movie.'

Although she doesn't have a film at the festival, Longoria is expected to be a regular on the red carpet over the 12 day festival as a guest of her employer L'Oreal.

Last night, Longoria cosied up to fellow L'Oreal model, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai at the Robin Hood premiere.
