Gemma Arterton

Gemma Arterton looked like she meant business today as she stepped out in New York in a smart grey and black ensemble with her raven-haired locks piled up high in a bouffant bun.

The young actress worked the sexy secretary look in a black pencil skirt, grey top with a belted empire line -which gave it the feel of a modish Jane Austen heroine - and she topped the sharp outfit off with a pair of racy, strappy shoes.

Her famous freckles weren't even in evidence. Gemma, 24, was elaborately coiffed, made up in 50s retro style and beaming widely as she was pictured leaving her hotel in New York today.

It was a harder style than the flowing gowns she has worn on the red carpet to promote her latest film 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' which sees her lock lips with Indie film hunk Jake Gyllenhaal.

Gemma's business look was a far cry from the Hollywood princess style she has worked on her recent red-carpet whirlwind tour

For the LA premiere of the Hollywood blockbuster, Gemma trailed down the red carpet in a pale gold Grecian dress that featured silver detailing on the one shoulder.

In London at the world premiere she dazzled the crowd in a nude Valentino ballgown embroidered with thousands of silver beads.

Gemma is fast developing a reputation as both Hollywood princess and darling of the British film industry.

While her summer blockbuster may prove a hit at the box office, Gemma has also garnered rave reviews in the forthcoming 'Tamara Drewe' where she plays a buxom journalist who causes a stir when she returns to her west country village.

Director Stephen Frears said 'Gemma's going to be a huge star and I'm just happy to have gotten her to be in my little British film while she was still available, and affordable'.

The actress is also popular amongst her fans for her refreshing plain-speaking style and refusal to play the showbusiness weight game. She also recently admitted that her family hate some of her movies.
