Being from one of the most famous families in the world, Janet Jackson must be used to being recognised in the street.

But the singer may well have left people doing a double-take today after she stepped out for lunch in London with a dramatic new haircut.

Janet has had her long curly locks shorn off and is now sporting a new short crop which she wore in a slicked back, gelled style.

The RnB star, 44, teamed her look with turned-up jeans, a black leather jacket and platform wedge heels.

She was pictured leaving the Italian restaurant Cecconi's in Mayfair with wealthy Qatar businessman Wissam Al Mana.

According to reports Janet has started dating the 35-year-old industrialist.

It comes after she split from her long-time boyfriend Jermaine Dupri after a seven-year relationship last summer.

Jackson is in London promoting her new movie Why did I Get Married Too?

She is set to make a guest appearance to introduce the film in Brixton on Friday.

The romantic comedy is the sequel to the 2007 flick, Why Did I get Married? and tells the story of four couples coping with various marital crises.

Film production had to be halted when Janet's brother Michael Jackson suddenly died aged 50 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Beverly Hills home.
