Liquid eyeliner might seem intimidating to use at first, but with a little practice, you'll be a pro in no time! See some tips and tricks on choosing and applying liquid eyeliner.

Liquid Eyeliner Supplies

You're going to want to start in front of a mirror with good lighting. You're also going to need a pencil eyeliner, a liquid eyeliner, and mascara. Using a liquid eyeliner with a felt tip is much easier than a brush for beginners.

Create a Liquid Eyeliner Path

Begin applying the eyeliner by making some dashes along the lash line. You don't have to do this step but I find that it's better to start this way because it acts as a guide for applying the liquid eyeliner, like connecting the dots.

Apply the Liquid Eyeliner

Hold your liquid eyeliner like a pencil and then very slowly start the line at the inside corner and slowly bring it out to the end of the lash line. If you feel like you can't make one steady line, you can always make small lines and connect them as you go along. Begin with a thin line and if you'd like to go back and make it thicker you can do so with your next coat.

Now if you want to do the little flick at the end, a good trick is to take a credit card or any type of thin plastic and holding at an angle starting from your lower lash line, use that as a guide. It makes it much easier if you don't have a very steady hand. Then fill in the point to match the rest of the line.

Finish the Look With Mascara

The final step is to apply some mascara to your eyelashes. It helps to blend everything in together. Check yourself out in the mirror, make sure you don't have any streaks or smudges, and you're ready to go.
