Cheryl ColeCheryl Cole, the pop star, has comforted the footballer Wayne Bridge over revelations that his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel had an affair with England team-mate John Terry, it has been reported.

The X Factor judge, whose husband Ashley Cole, a Chelsea team-mate of Terry, last year faced allegations of infidelity, is understood to have contacted Bridge to empathise with him.

The news comes as Miss Perroncel’s publicist dismissed reports that she also had flings with three other Chelsea players.

Cole got in touch with Bridge, who also played for Chelsea until last year, to say how “sad” she felt and that she too had been through some difficult times, the Daily Mail reported.

The singer told the Manchester City player that if there was “anything she could do” to help him or his three-year-old son Jaydon she was “there for him”.

Bridge told Cole her support meant a “great deal” to him on the day he had an “emotional reunion” with Perroncel and their son, it was reported.

The Coles spent a holiday with Bridge and Perroncel in the south of France last summer.

Perroncel, a French lingerie model and former nightclub hostess, is considering selling the story of her affair with Terry and has received offers in excess of £250,000.

She has been thrust under the spotlight after details of her affair with Terry emerged when an injunction blocking reporting of the matter was revoked on Friday.

Terry is said to have had a four-month affair with Miss Perroncel which began in September and also allegedly paid for her to have an abortion at a private clinic in October.

Bridge, 29, visited Perroncel on Tuesday to collect their son and take him back to his Manchester home to protect him from the media frenzy.

Ms Perroncel's publicist, Max Clifford, dismissed reports that she had flings with three other past and present Chelsea stars, saying she regularly met footballers through her work in nightclubs.

Responding to claims in The Sun relating to an alleged affair with one footballer in 2003, Max Clifford said: "She met him when she used to work in a club, about 10 years ago.

"She knew him and she knew some of the players but she didn't have affairs with them. She knew lots of the footballers and lots of stars, as you do when you work in clubs.”
