Supermodels before her have tried - and failed - to make the move from fashion to film.
But Mancunian model Agyness Deyn is hoping to break the mould as she makes her big screen debut in Mean To Me.
The 27-year-old stars alongside Law & Order actor Linus Roache - son of Coronation Street actor William Roache - in a film noir by artists David McDermott and Peter McGough.
Acting debut: Agyness Deyn plays a pampered mistress dumped by her older lover in short film Mean To Me
The 12 minute film stars Deyn as a spurned lover who plots revenge against her sugar daddy after he throws her out of the apartment she bought for him.
With her crimson lips, finger waves in her hair and long Zac Posen satin gowns, Deyn looks like a film star from the Depression era.
In a clip of the film, Deyn is seen weeping after Roache's character Walter tells her their affair is over and he wants the jewellery and her beloved Art Deco apartment back.
Surprise: Deyn's character is pleasantly surprised to find her lover Walter in her lounge... unaware he is about to dump her
'We need to talk': Linus Roache plays Walter, who informs his mistress he's marrying a less attractive woman
When he tells her they're through, her character's first worry is 'I can keep the apartment though, right?'
Her devastation soon turns to anger when Walter says: 'I'm sure you'll land on your feet... or your back,' which results in a slap round the face by his feisty mistress.
Deyn's acting attempt aside, her Mancunian accent is clearly audible throughout her scenes.
Deyn was rumoured to be considering quitting modelling last year to become an actress after she enrolled in acting classes.
It's over: Roache's character tries silence to silence Deyn so he can end their expensive affair
She explained: 'It's the opposite of modelling. You have to be so vulnerable and be something of a vessel, whereas in modelling you have to appear very strong.'
Vanity Fair columnist George Wayne, who attended the film's screening in New York last week, was enthralled, labelling Deyn 'the next Faye Dunaway'.
He wrote: '...starring the incredibly gifted Agyness Deyn... the film turned out to serve as a flawless reel for Deyn.'
McGough praised his film's leading lady: 'A star is born.'
Desperation: A tearful Deyn tells her lover she'll 'do anything' to make him change his mind
Deyn will have to wait and see if her new acting career is taken as seriously by critics as previous supermodels' attempts.
Cindy Crawford's performance in Fair Game in 1995 was mauled by critics, while Claudia Schiffer's leading role in In Pursuit in 2001 ended up going straight-to-video.
Kate Moss has also tried acting in small comedy roles in the Little Britain live tour and Blackadder.
