Many mums enjoy some coffee with friends before making the busy school run of a weekday afternoon.

And Kate Moss proved to be no exception, although we suspect her java and sugary pick-me-up was probably slightly more upmarket than a cup of instant and a digestive.

The supermodel was snapped out and about in London enjoying a cup of something hot with friends yesterday afternoon.

Kate, 36, laughed and joked with her pals as she sipped on her drink in the XO restaurant in Swiss Cottage, a stones throw from her Maida Vale home.

But like any conscientious mum, she kept a beady eye on the time, so she wouldn't be late to collect seven-year-old Lila when the school bell rang.

And the other mothers are clearly so used to seeing their famous fellow mum at the school gates because none of them batted an eyelid as she walked past.

Dressed casually in skinny jeans, a grey sweater and a cropped black leather jacket, she clutched Lila's hand as they left her school.

She even carried her daughter's school bag and homework for her as they got into Kate's car and sped home.

Lila is Kate's daughter from her previous relationship with Dazed & Confused editor Jefferson Hack.

Kate, who is now engaged to musician Jamie Hince, has kept a fairly low profile of late, and has not been snapped out and about since last month when she attended a party in Whitechapel.

According to reports today, she has been busy forming a rock group with Jamie, 42.

The Daily Star said the couple have started a new five-piece band and they have already started recording sessions.

A source said they have already laid down a cover of an unnamed song by The Velvet Underground and said Kate's contribution also included 'taking the session musicians out for dinner and giving her musical input'.
