Nicole Scherzinger may not be a contender at the Academy Awards, but she was certainly winning in the fashion stakes at a pre-Oscar party last night.

The Pussycat Doll, who has just rekindled her romance with British Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, showed off more curves than a motor racing track at the LA bash.

She dazzled on the red carpet in a multi-coloured halterneck floor-length gown, while her other half prepares for next week's F1 season.

Scherzinger outshone Hollywood beauty Jessica Alba and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown at the Avalon nightclub.

Despite her happy demeanour last night, Scherzinger admitted she was in agony after starting rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars.

The 31-year-old was unveiled as a contestant on the US version of Strictly Come Dancing earlier this week and will be paired with professional Derek Hough - who was recently romantically linked to Cheryl Cole.

She complained: 'My feet are so beat up, after just a couple days of rehearsals, and I'm not used to these shoes.

'Sure, I'm used to wearing seven-inch heels with the Pussycat Dolls, but this is a different style of dancing and a ballroom shoe. There's a lot of pain involved. But it's nothing that I'm not used to.'

With The Pussycat Dolls apparently on hold after three bandmembers quit, Scherzinger has plenty of time to rehearse.

She told MTV: 'Derek and I are pretty crazy. We're probably the goofiest cats ever. We were electric from the start.

'The first dance that we've been assigned is the Viennese waltz. I just learned how to say that properly - I've been calling it the Vietnamese waltz.'

Unfortunately for Scherzinger, she arrived at the event solo last night, despite recently reuniting with racing driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.

Also providing the glamour last night was Sin City star Alba and her husband Cash Warren.

The couple rushed into the nightclub under an umbrella due to the heavy downpour.

Alba, 28, went for a simple beige belted dress and cage heels, as her husband went for the smart casual look in a blazer, shirt and trousers.

Former Spice Girl Mel B flaunted her honed physique in a tight fuchsia mini dress and grey patent platform heels.

Just like Alba, she also brought her husband, film producer Stephen Belafonte.

Also in attendance was Avatar director James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis, My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos, tennis ace Serena Williams and Australian actress Radha Mitchell.

Providing the entertainment was Camp Freddy and Good Charlotte rockers Benji and Joel Madden.

The Global Green initiative promotes smart solutions to climate change and featured some of their eco-friendly products at the party.
