Katie Price

She has never been one to play by the fashion rules.

But Katie Price decided to go for a more conservative look last night when she stuck to the 'Show your legs OR your chest' rule.

However, the 32-year-old model seemed not to have taken the weather into consideration, as she covered up her top half by wearing a thick fur jacket.

Winter wear: The model seemed unaware of the warm temperatures in her outfit

While most of the other celebrity guests opted for strapless or sheer outfits so they could enjoy the relatively balmy 16C temperature, Price covered up her black and gold dress with a bulky coat which added little to her ensemble.

The model also struggled with her shoes, which had Indian-style chains on them, as she posed for a photocall with husband Alex Reid at the Keep A Child Alive Black Ball at St. John Smith's Square in London.

Katie may not have been particularly colourful on the red carpet, but the star previously admitted in her style book Standing Out that she wears black when she has 'put on a bit of weight'.

She said that despite some of her more outrageous outfits, people often ask her where she gets her clothes from.

She added: 'We all know I'm not a fashion icon. I'm not trying to be a fashion icon but there are girls who are interested in my looks and my style.

'When I do my live web chats, girls always ask questions like, "Where did you get your outfit from?" or "Where do you get your nails done?"'

Other stars at the event included Thandie Newton and Alicia Keys, who acted as the host for the charity night.

The Empire State of Mind singer, who looked amazing in a white ruffled dress, also performed a song with rock band Kasabian, singing their famous track Underdog at the event.

The Black Ball is held every year to benefit charitable organisation Keep A Child Alive, which provides care and support to orphans and those affected by AIDS in Africa and India.

The event includes an intimate cocktail party, live auction and seated dinner as well as an awards ceremony to honour humanitarians who use their willpower and fame to save lives devastated by AIDS.

Jade Ewen from the Sugababes attended solo, without her bandmates, in a sequinned black sheer dress while Gabriella Cilmi looked stunning in a fuchsia dress.
