Heartache for Patsy Kensit as fourth husband Jeremy Healy 'walks out'

Patsy Kensit

It's just ten months since she tied the knot for the fourth time but Patsy Kensit’s marriage to Jeremy Healy is already on the rocks, after the DJ moved out of the marital home.

Holby City actress Patsy has told friends that the brief marriage is now over. A source said: ‘Patsy has tried everything to make it work but it’s over. She has said there is nothing that can be done about it now.

'She is determined to make it work but Jeremy is adamant that it’s over and has moved out.

Trouble in paradise? Patsy Kensit and fourth husband Jeremy Healy

‘He will be going back for his stuff at a later date. Patsy is devastated.’

Friends of the 41-year-old actress say the marriage has been turbulent since the couple, right, and Patsy’s ten-year-old son Lennon, went to the Maldives at Christmas for a belated honeymoon.

‘They went there to patch things up but it didn’t work,’ the source said.

Patsy plays Sister Faye Byrne in the BBC’s Holby City while Jeremy’s successful career as a DJ career means that he is often away travelling.

He is the musical director for lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret’s annual show, which took place in November in New York.

The friend added: ‘Jeremy is away a lot which causes problems.

‘He is always partying with models until the early hours and it’s hard for Patsy to keep tabs on what he does. It caused a lot of friction.

‘When he was DJ at the Victoria’s Secret party he went missing all night and Patsy couldn’t get hold of him on the phone. This caused a huge row.’

Patsy’s previous husbands are Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr and Big Audio Dynamite keyboard player Dan Donovan.

A spokesman for Patsy said: ‘Patsy and Jeremy remain committed to making their marriage work. Spending this time apart has always been part of Jeremy’s work schedule and on his return they are going to spend some time working things through.’

A spokesman for Jeremy Healy last night declined to comment.

'Belittled' Gwyn goes cold on her old pal Madge

After Gwyneth Paltrow posted a message on her website Goop last week asking for help on what to do ‘when you don’t like a friend any more’, I can reveal that the ‘friend’ she has gone cool on is none other than Madonna.

The two, pictured above in 2007, have been close for some time, but Gwyneth hinted at a fall-out last week when she mused that spending time with some friends can leave you ‘drained empty and belittled’.

Sources say Gwyneth has distanced herself from Madonna after a row over their personal trainer, Tracy Anderson.

Said a source: ‘Madonna had a series of dramatic fall-outs with Tracy. Gwyneth has refused to take sides, which annoyed Madge.’

Kate Moss was in feisty form at a dinner party hosted by Sir Philip Green at the Dorchester’s China Tang restaurant.

I’m told that Kate, 36, started drunkenly shouting at Topshop boss Green and then disgraced herself at the afterparty at The Brompton nightclub by making a play for 73-year-old Dame Shirley Bassey. ‘Kate had been fawning over Dame Shirley all night – she’s a huge fan,’ says my night owl.

‘At one point she lunged at Shirley and planted a kiss firmly on her mouth.’

A spokesman for the veteran diva said diplomatically: ‘Dame Shirley is a big fan of Kate’s.’

Broody Amy told to focus on music, not Blake

Alone in the Caribbean: Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been banned from joining her in Jamaica

Amy Winehouse’s ex- husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been banned from joining her when she records her new album in Jamaica next month.

The pair have been attempting a reconciliation and Blake, 31, had hoped to join Amy, left – but her record company has insisted he stays at home in Sheffield.

‘The record company won’t pay for him to go and he has no money,’ said a source. ‘They want Amy to focus on her music.’

Friends say that Amy, 26, and Blake, who married in 2007 and divorced last July, have been talking about starting a family.

‘Amy wants to get pregnant,’ the source adds. ‘She thinks a baby could bring her and Blake back together for good.’

Last year, I revealed how Amy was working with orphanages in St Lucia. ‘She will continue to work with them and is also keen to get Blake involved,’ the source added.

Pub landlord: Tamara Ecclestone

Ms Ecclestone buys Dad’s old pub, but the foie gras is off

TV presenter and model Tamara Ecclestone has found a new profession: pub landlady.

The daughter of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has bought one of his favourite pubs, the Swag and Tails in Knightsbridge.

‘Dad used to have lunch there every day, so I decided to buy it and renovate it,’ says Tamara.

‘I love British pubs, though I’ve never pulled a pint before. So I’ll have to learn.’

The Swag and Tails is now closed for refurbishment, but Tamara, 25, hopes to be serving by the end of the year.

One dish that definitely won’t be on the menu is foie gras.

‘It is banned,’ says Peta campaigner Tamara, who has written to every Formula 1 team and sponsor begging them to boycott the delicacy. As her dad’s the boss, how can they refuse?

Lady Gaga’s voice is her fortune and the 23-year-old triple Brit Award-winner goes to extraordinary lengths to protect it. She insisted that her suite at the Mayfair Hotel in London was equipped with a special humidifier to protect her vocal chords. ‘She was absolutely insistent she had one,’ said a source. ‘She’s terrified of doing any damage to her voice.’

Brad Pitt was credited with engineering the recent reunion between Angelina Jolie, 34, right, and her father Jon Voight, but the real driving force was her actor brother, James Haven, 36.

He has become a born-again Christian and felt it his duty to bring the warring pair back together.

‘James instigated the meeting in Venice,’ said a source. ‘He became a born-again Christian last year and is now a youth minister at the Saddleback community church in Costa Mesa in California. He wants peace within his family.’

Ewan McGregor has broken his silence after being seen arm-in-arm in Paris with French starlet Melanie Laurent.

Ewan, 38, who has been married for 15 years and worked with Melanie, 27, on the movie Beginners, says: ‘Melanie is a star of the highest order. I adore her. I’ve just made two romantic movies with French actresses. I am exhausted.’

From work, I trust.

James Cameron was typically upbeat at the Baftas. ‘Last time I was here for Titanic – I was nominated for 12 awards and won zero,’ the Avatar director told me at the Evian table. ‘Tonight I was nominated for eight and came away with two. I call that progress.’

Not enough, however, to beat his ex-wife, director Kathryn Bigelow, who won six Baftas with The Hurt Locker.

Model-turned-actress Tamsin Egerton, 21, is desperately trying to learn to ski as she prepares for her latest movie, Chalet Girl.

She’s been having lessons on dry ski slopes so she looks the part when the cameras roll.

Tamsin, who has just shot her debut Vogue spread with Texan supermodel Jerry Hall, told me at the Grey Goose official Baftas after party: ‘I’m hoping I will have a nice ski technique by the time filming begins.’

Marie Osmond's teenage son Michael Blosil commits suicide

Marie Osmond

Singer Marie Osmond was said to be ‘devastated and in pieces’ last night after her troubled adopted son committed suicide by jumping from the roof of his Los Angeles apartment.

Michael Blosil, 18, left a suicide note for his family saying he had decided to end his life because of the ‘torment’ of his long battle against depression and drug and alcohol abuse.

The note was also reported to contain the words: ‘I feel like I have no friends and will never fit in.’

A police source said Blosil, who had been adopted as a baby by Osmond and her ex-husband Brian, jumped off the roof of the ten-storey apartment block in central LA where he rented a £1,500-a-month flat.

The mother-of-eight, 50, released a statement confirming her loss and appealed for privacy.

In a statement, Marie said: 'My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.'

The suicide note was believed to have said Michael intended to lose his life after a long battle with depression, feeling like he had no friends and did not fit in.

Marie has cancelled tonight's performance at the Flamingo Hotel in New York, where she has a residence with brother Donny.

A hotel representative said it was currently unknown how long Marie's hiatus from the show would last.

Her brother Donny told ET: 'Please pray for my sister and her family.'

Marie's nephew David Osmond - son of the eldest Osmonds bandmember Alan - wrote on his Twitter page: 'My heart bleeds for my Aunt today. Life is precious. Love is all.'

'I saw four firemen standing here and they had a sheet held up,' said Makenzie Arnone.

'There was caution tape all along the building here.'

A source also told the website how the emergency call reporting Michael's suicide came at 9.26pm on Friday.

'It was categorised as an "extreme fall",' the source said.

'Four units from the fire department were dispatched including a battalion chief, supervising paramedic unit, a fire truck and a paramedic unit.

'Once they arrived, they worked in coordination with the LAPD and the coroner's field investigator.'

In November 2007, when he just 16, Michael entered a rehab facility.

At the time, Marie said: 'My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him.'

In an interview with American magazine People in 2007, Marie's long-time friend Lisa Hatch described Michael as a 'very quiet kid' who played the drums on his mother's Christmas 2006 tour.

It was thought he was overcoming his troubles after he successfully graduated from high school last year in Las Vegas.

Last March, Marie said: 'I couldn't be more proud of him. He's got a 3.9 GPA in high school. He's looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges.'

A source close to Marie, 50, who has enjoyed a resurgence in her career thanks to an appearance on the US show Dancing With The Stars, said: ‘She is in pieces. She is as devastated as you can imagine.

'She did everything she could to help Michael but sometimes everything is not enough.’

The singer split from Michael's father Brian in 2007 after 20 years of marriage.

On hold: Marie and her brother Donny cancelled last night's concert in Las Vegas

She admitted her marriage split had been difficult for Michael: 'Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with.'

Marie is also mother to three biological children Stephen, Rachael and Lauren and four remaining adopted children Jessica, Brandon, Brianna and Abigail.

The Osmonds, a tight-knit Mormon family who donate ten per cent of their earnings to the Mormon Church, found fame singing together in the Seventies with hits such as Paper Roses and Crazy Horses.

Together with Marie’s brothers Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny and baby brother Jimmy, the family built up an estimated £50million fortune.

Jonathan Ross's wife Jane Goldman causes outrage with film featuring a foul-mouthed 11-year-old assassin

Jane Goldman

With his eagerness to offend, his vast salary and the obscene ‘Sachsgate’ phone calls, Jonathan Ross is no stranger to controversy.

Now, it seems, his wife Jane Goldman is out to prove that anything he can do, she can do worse.

Miss Goldman has caused outrage with a film she has written featuring a foul-mouthed girl assassin aged only 11.

Hit-Girl from movie Kick-Ass by Jane Goldman

Jane Goldman has caused outrage with a film she has written featuring a foul-mouthed 11-year-old assassin called Hit-Girl

The character, called Hit-Girl, slices off people’s legs and shoots bullets through a man’s cheek. In one scene, the young serial killer – played by 13-year-old American actress Chloe Moretz – screams at her victims: ‘Okay, you ****s, let’s see what you can do now.’

In another, she tells her vigilante father she wants a puppy for her birthday. When he looks surprised, she says: ‘I’m just f****** with you, Daddy’, and asks for a razor-sharp knife instead.

Critics say the movie, titled Kick-Ass, blurs the lines between adult and child entertainment.

Its extreme violence has earned it comparisons with the work of Quentin Tarantino.

It is expected to gain a 15 rating but its violent trailer is already available on the internet.

Kick-Ass, released next month, is based on a comic book series that is advertised with the slogan ‘Sickening violence: Just the way you like it’.

Frank Furedi, professor of sociology at Kent University, criticised the film industry for not distinguishing between what is suitable for children and adults.

‘This promotes the idea that infantilising adulthood is okay and that we are no longer expected to draw lines between us and kids,’ he said.

The film has already provoked complaints in the U.S. after children were allowed to access violent trailers of the film online.

Nell Minow, a lawyer and one of the complainants, said: ‘These particular trailers are even worse than normal because they depict a child and so are more interesting to a child.

‘Isn’t there a limit to what we can ask children to do on screen?’

When asked by one U.S. interviewer about the suitability of an 11-year-old using the C-word, Miss Goldman said: ‘I think that’s the least of our worries.’

Robert Thompson, professor of popular culture at Syracuse University, said: ‘It’s still enough of a real taboo that when you hear some of those words coming out of the mouth of an 11-year-old kid, it’s really shocking. But that’s the whole point.’

Los Angeles media analyst Mike Raia said: ‘One of the joint production companies involved is Plan B, which is owned by Brad Pitt.

‘I wonder if he and Angelina Jolie would want their own young children to hear kids cussing in Kick-Ass.’

Protests about the film have also erupted in Australia where John Morrisey of the Family Association said: ‘The language is offensive and the values inappropriate – without the saving grace of the bloodless victory of traditional superheroes.’

Ross was widely criticised in October 2008 after he and the comedian Russell Brand made obscene calls to Andrew Sachs, the former Fawlty Towers actor.

Ross announced in January that he would not be renegotiating his contract with the BBC when it ends in July.

Goldman met Ross when she was a young newspaper columnist and married him when she was just 18 before going on to forge a successful career as a television presenter, author and screenwriter.

Bedraggled Whitney Houston leaves Sydney amid a wave of criticism

Whitney Houston

It would appear that her eagerly-awaited return to music has proved to be all too much for Whitney Houston.

After a week in which the singer was slated for her disappointing comeback concerts in Australia, she flew out of Sydney this morning looking more than a little worse for wear.

She stopped to pose for pictures with fans, who posted the snaps on Twitter this morning, but she looked distracted, her smile seeming fake as she hid behind brown sunglasses.

The 46-year-old singer is currently on tour in in the country playing a number of dates in various cities for the first time in 22 years.

But her great comeback proved to be a huge flop for her Aussie fans, who have been left disgruntled with her performances after spending hundreds of dollars on tickets.

There have been reports of complaints, fans walking out and hundreds demanding refunds on their tickets, some of whom had paid up to AUS$699 (£410) to see the legendary diva in action.

Some fans also complained that Houston sang off key and looked exhausted, with concert-goers even posting clips of her less-than-satisfactory performance on video-sharing websiteYouTube.

The Australian leg of her Nothing But Love tour, in support of her internationally chart-topping album I Look To You, has been smothered in controversy since the first date in Brisbane.

She played the city's Entertainment Centre, where, according to fans, she sounded 'croaky and appeared 'disorientated'.

They claimed that she struggled through the concert, especially with the high notes, and was left breathless and exhausted after just two songs.

And they added that she took a 20 minute break to catch her breath mid-way through the show, get a towel and re-apply her make-up.

She even on her brother, Gary Houston, to sing in her absence before her backing singers then performed an energetic version of one of her biggest hits, Queen of the Night, from The Bodyguard soundtrack.

Her Australian promoter Andrew McManus today dismissed the criticisms and said that he was proud to be associated with Houston, whom he called 'an amazing talent.'

And he said to all the fans that had complained about her voice to go and buy a CD if people wanted to hear the diva of 20 years ago.

Prior to the tour and her album release, Houston had spent years battling drug addiction and a turbulent marriage to former R&B singer, Bobby Brown.

She wraps up her Australian tour in Perth on March 7 and heads to France and Britain in April.

Why women suffer more than men from icy toes... and what we can do about it

cold feet

Women are up to nine times more likely to suffer from cold hands and feet than men, I read last week. We feel changes in temperature and the seasonal chill more. Did this surprise me? Not a bit.

I am always moaning about how bitter the weather is; how if my feet and hands are cold, then I just can't get warm anywhere else. In fact, my extremities are so often freezing that I spend my life buying woollen bed socks and pairs of gloves that I inevitably lose.

I try so many different ways to get warm. I bury my hands deep in pockets. I buy extra-thick gloves, or lined ones, or ones that promise to 'banish cold hands for ever'. But there I still am - cold fingers, cold toes and miserable.

Lucy Cavendish

The Tootsie index: Lucy Cavendish tries a warm-up

My lack of warmth drives my husband mad. 'Do you have to have the heating on so high?' he'll say when he comes in of an evening to find me warming my feet and hands on the radiator.

In bed, things get even worse. I am for ever wanting to use him as a human hot-water bottle. As I try to tuck my feet into the warmth of his legs or back or whatever bit of his warm flesh that is nearest, he shudders and moves away. 'Get them off me!' he says.

I totally understand his hatred of my cold feet. Really, it is a curse. Even I hate them. All that palaver with thick tights and extra socks. I have taken to wearing tights under trousers but even that hasn't been enough with the recent snow. But it gets much worse than fashion dilemmas.

When my feet get cold, my toes cramp and I writhe around in pain. This has happened to me ever since I was a little girl and the only way I know for me to combat it is to wrench my toes slightly out and then hopefully they will eventually go back into their sockets. This involves me taking off my shoes and socks and tugging away, which is not possible on a packed train - which, nine times out of ten, is when it happens.

Feet and a heart shaped hot water bottle

Women have thinner skin than men, so their feet get colder quicker

So if my feet get cold and my toes become disjointed, I have to sit there with a painful grimace on my face, incapable of doing anything about it. But at least I now know I am not alone.

I had thought the reason my husband didn't feel the cold was because he's a Northerner and I'm a Southerner. However, it turns out it is much more to do with our physiognomy than where we originate from.

A new survey has found that women are nine times more likely to develop cold in their extremities than men. We are also more likely to suffer from Raynaud's disease - a recognised condition where not enough blood gets to the fingers and toes, causing extreme pain.

There are many theories as to why women suffer from this problem. Women have more evenly distributed fat layers, providing internal insulation. But while the result is that our blood supply favours protecting our core organs and trunk over our extremities, it means less blood flows to the hands and feet.

Men on the other hand have more heat-generating muscle mass, better supplied by blood vessels, increasing blood flow and, therefore, warmth.

Foot expert Margaret Dabbs says another reason why women's feet in particular get colder than men's is because our skin is thinner.

'The skin on our feet is thinner and has less subcutaneous fat than men's, so it is very hard for us to keep warm. You can see how women's faces get thinner as they get older, well, so does the skin on their feet and this is why the blood finds it hard to get to them and warm them up.

'People often come to my clinic complaining of extremely cold feet, but I find it usually only seriously affects women in the 40-plus age group as our skin gets thinner as we age.'

FEET FIRST

Avoid alcohol or caffeine as both increase blood flow to the skin, so while you might feel warmer, your body is losing heat

Dr Neetu Nirdosh, a doctor who specialises in anti-ageing, agrees. He says: 'It can certainly be to do with ageing as, once we get older, our once buoyant blood supply becomes limp. Blood no longer flows through our skin with a full dynamic force, and the consequence of this is distal hypothermia - cold extremities.

'The hands and feet are first to suffer as they contain a diffuse micro network of tiny capillaries which easily become damaged or blocked, and women feel this impact on a greater scale than men.

'Also, women can suffer from iron deficiency - anaemia - as they hold less iron in the body than men. Since iron is needed to transport oxygen around the blood, a lack will hamper blood flow.'

Apparently, the fact that some of us women seem to suffer from permanently cold feet can also be attributed to our hormones. Health advisor Nicola Stewart explains: 'Our circulation is linked to our hormonal system, and when we get a lack of iron in the thyroid we get cold as it is this that regulates our body temperature.'

She suggests a diet rich in pumpkin seeds, nuts, fish and watermelon to overcome the problem. So would a different diet help me? And is there anything else we women with cold hands and feet can actually do about it, bar eat sushi and seeds before we go to bed? Dr Nirdosh says there is.

'Lifestyle factors also massively accelerate age damage and weaken blood supply to the extremities,' he explains. 'With age, nutrients are not so well processed by the body.

'The combination of a poor diet which lacks vital vitamins and minerals such as B12 and folate, plus sleep deprivation, loss of muscle tissue due to inappropriate exercise and smoking all damage the blood supply.

'Extreme emotional instability and extreme cold conditions can obviously also cause cold extremities. But these are all things we can do something about.

HOT TIP

Mood can influence our temperature - people who are lonely or socially excluded feel the cold more

To take action against age-related body breakdown, you need to implement a proper nutritional plan high in dark green and dark red vegetables such as spinach and beetroot, complete protein sources like eggs and chicken, as well as daily supplementation with targeted vitamins and minerals, such as a complete vitamin B complex.

'Furthermore, to boost hormone activity and enhance muscle tissue, it's essential to exercise, and ensure you get six to eight hours sleep per night as this is when the body repairs itself.'

So, the answer is to eat iron-rich food, sleep more, exercise more and try to curtail those hormones. One blindingly obvious way to combat cold feet, I find, is to go to bed with a hot-water bottle. Men, though, tend to hate women having them. For a start, it makes the bed too hot for them.

There is also something slightly old lady-ish about going to bed with a fleece-covered water bottle. But, as I explain to my husband, it must be better for me to be sleeping peacefully than constantly shoving my cold feet into his back.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SHOES

The circulatory system is the body’s own unique central heating system and the blood pumped around your body provides a kind of heat maintenance. So, if you wear tight shoes, this can cut off

the circulation to your feet, leaving them feeling cold.

WATCH WHAT YOU EAT

Vitamin K is important; it helps to strengthen the cardiac muscles in your heart as well as the blood capillaries. It also improves circulation around your body, including your feet, therefore keeping them warmer. Ginger, fish, parsley, salad, spring onions, apricots and celery are all good sources of Vitamin K.

EXERCISE REGULARLY

Regular exercise — whether it be a brisk walk, cycle or run — helps keep the heart healthy and strong, and so more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

USE A FOOT SPA

If you have very cold feet, it’s important not to warm them up too quickly, such as with a hot-water bottle or against a radiator — in the worst case scenario, you could end up with chilblains. The most effective way is bathing your feet in warm water or using a foot spa. This will warm up your feet slowly and naturally, and also keep them hydrated from the outside, improving circulation.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

When you are dehydrated your hands and feet get colder, too, as dry skin fails to maintain a good moisture balance and so does not retain heat.

WEAR NATURAL SOCKS

Cheap, synthetic, man-made fibres are so closely woven together that there are no air pockets in which to retain your natural body heat. Natural wool and cotton socks have more textured fibres and are less tightly bound, so they hold more warm air around the feet.

MOISTURISE

Lanolin, (available in cream form from Boots and Superdrug) helps to retain moisture in the skin, helping to improve blood flow and, therefore, retain heat.

Victoria Beckham looks thinner than ever

Victoria Beckham

Her busy lifestyle undoubtedly makes it easy to keep the pounds off.

But Victoria Beckham looked alarmingly thin pictured near her Los Angeles home at the weekend.

The former Spice Girl who has now carved out a successful career as a fashion designer wore a low cut jacket which did little to disguise her slender frame or her ribs which could be seen poking through her skin.

Victoria Beckham

Skeletal: Victoria Beckham's rib cage shows the extent of her latest weight loss

An onlooker who saw her leave the LA party where other guests included Peaches Geldof and Gwen Stefani, said: 'Why Posh chose to wear such a revealing jacket which only served to display how flat-chested she has become is anyone's guess. It really was not an attractive look at all. It is a look which will do little to stop talk of her being unhealthily underweight.'

The fashionista stepped out in a £595 pair of suede Christian Louboutin 'Maggie' stilettos, with a 5 1/2 inch heel.

Victoria's weight first hit the headlines ten years ago and saw her dubbed Skeletal Spice. Since then the 35-year-old's appearance has fluctuated from being skinny to very skinny.

Victoria Beckham

'Not an attractive look': Onlookers in Los Angeles said Victoria's skinny chest would do little to quash talk of her 'being unhealthily underweight'

Occasionally, she gives the impression of having put on more weight by trussing herself up in gravity-defying push-up bras.

Victoria has often cited the pressure of looking after three children and juggling a hectic work schedule for the reason she struggles to put on weight.

She is constantly pictured on the go, jetting most often between Los Angeles where her and husband David's three boys are in school, to Milan where David plays football and Britain where her parents and sister live.

Victoria, who appears as a judge on American Idol, has been slated by the US media in recent months for her slenderness. In the past, she has featured on pro-anorexia websites and admitted that during her time in the Spice Girls she 'came close to' having an eating disorder.

However, she recently defended fashion designers who use stick-thin models to promote their clothes.

She told New York-based TV show The View: 'Most of these girls are naturally thin. And I don't think we should be discriminating against someone because they are too thin or too curvy or too large or whatever it is.'

A spokesman for Victoria was unavailable for comment last night.

Superstar Venkatesh's nephew Daggubati Rana debuts in political drama

Daggubati RanaAfter Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna's sons, who made their debut in Tollywood in the last two years, now it is the turn of superstar Venkatesh's nephew to go 70mm.

The only difference: instead of a teenybopper love story, Daggubati Rana has chosen a political drama titled Leader as his launch vehicle.

Perhaps apt in these times of political trouble in Andhra Pradesh. Leader releases this Friday.

With Andhra Pradesh rocked by political turmoil for the last two and a half months, it comes as little surprise that a political drama is the latest offering from the Telugu film industry.

"The idea of the story was born because of the political turmoil that was here, where all of us are looking for a leader," said Daggubati Rana, actor.

"Once we agreed that this will be my first film, we discussed at home and there were certain sort of body language that we spoke about, certain way of speech because this film is more about acting, body language and drama," said Daggubati Rana.

The film had its share of political trouble with pro-Telangana activists when they forced Rana to raise "Jai Telangana" slogans in Khammam.

Leader will give Rana the chance to explain what kind of leadership mantra Andhra Pradesh today needs.

Tamil Actor Surya says yes to Kandahar

SuryaAfter Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, Tamil star Surya has given his nod to act in the Malayalam film Kandahar, based on the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight to Afghanistan in 1999, along with Mohanlal.

Surya will don a commando's role in the film, said its Director Major Ravi.

It would take another 3-4 months for the shooting to begin.

'I am still in the process of getting permission from the Army and selection of locations etc. The spade work is going on', he said.

Bachchan, who will be playing the role of the father of a hijack victim, will be making his appearance in the second half of the film. Major Ravi denied that Bachchan's role was only a guest appearance.

The story line was narrated to the Big B during his visit to Kerala earlier this month and he liked it and readily gave his nod.

Resul Pookutty, who won the Oscar in Slumdog Millionaire, is likely to mix the sound for the film.

The female lead has not yet been decided, Ravi said.

Major Ravi, a former commando himself in the Indian Army, who led the mission to capture the suspects in the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case in Bangalore, has three of his films which have a military background.

Kurukshetra, on the Kargil war, has Mohanlal essaying the role of Colonel Mahadevan, Keertichakra is based on Kashmir militancy also with Mohanlal and 'Mission 90 days' with Mammootty in the lead role was based on his experience in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Asked about the budget of the new film, which is being made in three languages - Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi and with a big star cast, Major Ravi said he was confident of completing the film within Rs 10-12 crore.

Surya, son of veteran Tamil actor Sivakumar, had made his debut in Tamil film Nerrukku Ner in 1997 and has emerged one of the succesful young stars.

Among his hit films are Kakka Kakka, Pitha Magan and Ghajini.

Johnny Depp likes wearing 'skirts'

Johnny DeppHollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp likes wearing "skirts". The actor portrays the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's new movie Alice in Wonderland with a Scottish accent, and says he particularly enjoyed one scene where he got to wear a kilt, the national dress of Scotland, said a report.

"The Scottish accent was something I did mess around with on Finding Neverland. That was a bit more Aberdeen, and Tim Burton and I talked about the Hatter being made up of different people and going to extremes- go dark and dangerous with the Scottish accent. I hope I arrived there. And I like wearing skirts too!," Depp said.

The 46-year-old star - who last year was named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine for the second time - is also unsure why he is still considered a teen idol.

"Clearly someone's Photoshop is working really well if people are buying posters of me.
I just keep doing a bunch of movies. I never really thought about whether they were teen movies or not. You always feel that you cross some sort of boundary that allows a film to be enjoyed by kids from the age of five to the age of 85," Depp said.

Colin Farrell : I could have died like Ledger

Colin FarrellHollywood actor Colin Farrell was overcome with emotion at Heath Ledger's memorial service because he felt it could have been him lying dead in the coffin.

The Brokeback Mountain star died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008, midway through filming The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus and Farrell was one of three actors who stepped in to finish the role, said a report.

The Irish star, once one of Hollywood's wildest hell raisers, admits the tragedy had a profound effect on him, and prompted him to re-evaluate his life.

"(I felt) this could've been me. I wouldn't describe it as survivor's guilt, but yes, that came into it a little bit. It makes you ask some questions about yourself," Farrell said

Drew Barrymore blames childhood for ill-fated love life

Drew BarrymoreHollywood star Drew Barrymore has blamed her unconventional childhood for her rocky love life insisting she never learned about real relationships as she was growing up.

Barrymore, famously got hooked on drugs at an early age, smoking pot at 10, before entering rehab at 13.

She later married and divorced twice before dating a string of famous lovers, and the actress insists she struggled to settle down because of lessons learnt from her famous parents, John and Jaid Barrymore, who split when she was born, Contactmusic reported.

"I have never really understood how I should feel or behave in a relationship. I didn't have the kind of childhood that would have given me any sort of perspective on what a happy home or relationship would feel like," Barrymore said.

"You can't live your life blaming your failures on your parents. You're dealt the cards you're dealt. I realized it was a waste of time to be angry at my parents and feel sorry for myself," she added.

"I used to pull a lot of emotion from all the stuff with my family, but I have been much more objective about my childhood and my relationship with my mother in these last few years. But I won't deny that the baggage was there at some point," Barrymore said.

Julianne Moore wants to do more comedy

Julianne MooreHollywood actress Julianne Moore, who has done serious roles in films like Savage Grace and Hannibal, wants to show some "variety in her acting" by doing more comedy roles.

The 49-year-old actress says she would love to tackle a movie similar to the Cameron Diaz-starring There's Something About Mary, the Telegraph reported.

"I though Cameron Diaz was great in that movie. I really enjoy watching all that kind of stuff. Really you want to have variety as an actor. If you spend your career doing one thing solidly, people get burned out," the actress said.

"I like any kind of situational comedy. It breaks my heart that I'm not going to be in it."

But Moore is not interested in doing theatre because of her commitments as a mother. She has two children-- Caleb, 12 and Liv, seven.

"It's very difficult to do when you have kids because the hours are fairly extreme. I did find it particularly difficult to do Broadway. It was not my favourite way to perform. When I do theatre I like it to be smaller, I like the audience to be closer, I like it to be less presentational," she said.

The 22-year-old was playing at a bash in Brazil when an angry man approached him.

"He threw beer in his face and said, 'Get out. I don't want to see your face anymore'. Jesus went to a corner and started to cry," a source was quoted as saying by a website.

Jennifer Aniston : I am a late bloomer

Jennifer AnistonWith hits like Marley & Me and He's Just Not That Into You behind her, Hollywood beauty Jennifer Aniston, who turned 41 recently, is enjoying the time of her life.

But the Friends star says it took her some time to figure out about herself.

Aniston said her 30s were tough. She married actor Brad Pitt in 2000 but they split in 2005 and Brad went on to date Angelina Jolie, whom he is still with. Pitt and Jolie met while working on Mr And Mrs Smith when Pitt was still married to Aniston.

"The thirties were kind of a challenge quite frankly and I'm ready for the next one! Life is full and I'm just a late bloomer," Aniston told Sky Movies in an interview.

"Some people take their twenties to figure out who they are and I think I did more of that in my thirties because fame stunts your growth in some way," the actress said. The actress will next be seen opposite Gerard Butler, her rumoured boyfriend, in romantic drama The Bounty Hunter.
